Chapter Name Details

Children From Abroad

The 2014 guidance 'Care of Unaccompanied and Trafficked Children: Statutory Guidance for Local Authorities on the Care of Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking and Trafficked Children (2014) has been replaced with 'Care of Unaccompanied Migrant Children and Victims of Modern Slavery: Statutory Guidance for local Authorities (2017)'. There is an accompanying amendment to text to reference section 51 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

Dangerous Dogs and Safeguarding Children

This chapter has been reviewed and updated as part of the continuing improvement of the SCB template procedures. The guidance within explains the importance of professionals making routine enquiries regarding dogs in the household whenever they are working with children and families. It then looks at the action which is required when a child is injured by a dog and / or when there are concerns that a dog in the household may be dangerous or prohibited.

Gang Activity, Youth Violence and Criminal Exploitation Affecting Children

This chapter has been updated to include a link to the Home Office publication Criminal Exploitation of Children and Vulnerable Adults: County Lines. This guidance outlines what county lines (and associated criminal exploitation) is, signs to look for in potential victims, and what to do about it. Information was also added throughout to describe how organised criminal groups exploit young people and use them to distribute money and illegal drugs along ‘county lines’. The chapter has also been re-titled.

Trafficked Children

The 2014 guidance 'Care of Unaccompanied and Trafficked Children: Statutory Guidance for Local Authorities on the Care of Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking and Trafficked Children (2014) has been replaced with 'Care of Unaccompanied Migrant Children and Victims of Modern Slavery: Statutory Guidance for local Authorities (2017)'. There is an accompanying amendment in the text to reference section 51 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
